Perched on the limestone plateau above the town of Saint-Émilion, Ausone's ancient terroir and meticulous winemaking produce wines of extraordinary finesse, complexity, and longevity. Despite the challenging 2007 vintage, Ausone's signature elegance and depth shine through — a testament to the estate's exceptional terroir and winemaking mastery.

Vineyard & Producer
Château Ausone is one of Bordeaux's most legendary estates, named after the Roman poet Ausonius who is said to have owned a villa on the site in the 4th century. Holding just 7 hectares of ancient vines on the limestone plateau and côte of Saint-Émilion, Ausone produces tiny quantities of wine of extraordinary concentration and complexity. As one of only two Premier Grand Cru Classé A estates in Saint-Émilion (alongside Château Pétrus's neighbour Château Cheval Blanc), Ausone occupies a unique position at the very pinnacle of Bordeaux's Right Bank.
The 2007 Vintage
2007 was a challenging vintage in Bordeaux, with a cool, wet summer testing producers across the region. At Ausone, the estate's exceptional terroir and meticulous vineyard management produced a wine of remarkable elegance and finesse — a vintage that rewards those who appreciate subtlety and complexity over sheer power. Now fully mature and drinking beautifully.
