The Wine

The 2022 Musigny Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru is the crown jewel of Comte Georges de Vogüé, drawn from old vines rooted deep in Musigny’s limestone-rich soils. This is a wine that defines Burgundian elegance, marrying depth and precision in a way only the very greatest terroirs can achieve.

Tasting Notes

  • Appearance: Deep ruby with purple glints, youthful and vibrant.

  • Nose: Layers of mulberry, black cherry, and wild raspberry, lifted by rose petals, violet, and pomegranate. Hints of licorice, cocoa, and smoky minerality add intrigue.

  • Palate: A seamless blend of plush fruit and precise structure. Juicy berries meet blood orange zest, framed by ultra-fine tannins and a firm mineral backbone.

  • Finish: Exceptionally long, with echoes of florals, spice, and earth.

Critical Acclaim

  • James Suckling – 99 Points: “Enveloping nose… finesse and intense minerality with a super-long finish.”

  • Burghound – 94–97 Points: “Seductive weight, youthfully austere finish, brilliant aging potential.”

  • Wine Advocate – 94–96 Points: “Rich, concentrated, layered… a broad, perfumed finish.”

Serving & Pairing

Decant for 1–2 hours in its youth to reveal its aromatic complexity. Superb with refined dishes such as truffle-infused poultry, roast duck, or herb-crusted rack of lamb.

Cellaring

Accessible in its youthful charm but truly transcendent after a decade. Drink from 2025–2045+ for full maturity.
