Josmeyer Le Kottabe Riesling 2023 750ml

From a family estate with roots going back to 1854, Josmeyer's Le Kottabe Riesling 2023 is a benchmark dry Alsace Riesling of real gastronomic character. Farmed organically and biodynamically since 2004, the grapes come from small parcels on alluvial and gravelly soils around Wintzenheim and Turckheim, fermented spontaneously with indigenous yeasts and aged on fine lees in old oak foudres. The result is a wine with considerably more texture and depth than its taut acidity initially suggests — lime, grapefruit, apple, pear and honeysuckle on the nose, with subtle herbal and spice notes adding complexity. The palate is dry and brisk with a surprisingly full, textured mouthfeel, bright citrus and orchard fruit, and a distinctive saline, slate-like minerality that runs through to a long, clean and refreshing finish. A serious Alsace Riesling in the best sense.
